Network

1. Local whistle-blowing platforms

The AWP is conceived as a network made up of local platforms which deal with the struggles and concerns of specific cultural contexts. Therefore, even though the project has a global focus, it has to respect and account for local diversity in a ‘from the roots upwards’ model.

The nodes that make up this web function on different levels: they are made up of a group of people which manage the AWP’s local submission platform; produce analysis and content based on the material collected in a specific language and social context; interact with the local media for publication as well as organize forums, events and gatherings for collecting funds or establishing contacts for the network.

The AWP’s  model aims to provide local actors with the possibility of denouncing wrongdoing within their communities, bringing problems to the public and empowering citizens, local media and authorities to take action against corruption and abuse. In the long run we hope to make the whistle-blowing community more robust, bridging the much needed step between news and action.

Our aim is to promote different local whistle-blowing initiatives in a decentralized way: if you are already working in a similar project in your country or region, or if you would like to start one please contact us at network [at] whistle.is. There are many ways in which we can collaborate: such as with a legal safe haven, technological solutions, cross-promotion or others, so don’t hesitate in writing.

2. Contributors Network

The AWP aims to connect whistle-blowers, traditional and non-traditional media outlets,  journalists, researchers,  lawyers, IT enthusiasts and active citizens in different countries in order to strengthen the cause of transparency and whistle-blowing. The initiative works as a decentralized network with common ideals and workflow, this means that everyone is welcome to help and contribute in a variety of ways depending on their personal skills.

Right now we are looking for bloggers, journalists and researchers to write for our newsroom. People with IT and social media managing skills are also useful.

If you would like to offer your help or want more information contact us at network [at] whistle.is.

3. Press network

In order to publish findings effectively, amplifying the revelations for a larger impact, the AWP has developed a network of media agencies (from professional journalists to bloggers) working in local, national or virtual contexts. In this way, we are open for collaboration with both traditional publishers as well as blogs, online newspapers, magazines or other Internet sites. The media partners will work together in order to coordinate the analysis and publication of information gathered by the AWP’s local whistle-blowing platforms.

All works published by the AWP will be  licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0  Unported License, allowing others to use the information under these conditions.
